My new portfolio website has been online for a couple of months, and I felt the need to update my visual identity. Based on research and insights into human and technological (potential) development I opted for a bold statement: ‘the future is this way’. Having worked in media for about 20 years, being on the cutting edge of design and technology, my latest personal projects look far into the future. Personally I have never been that bold or grotesk, although enthusiastic – I thought this might be a (risky) step into a new direction. Bold, but I believe I can make it so based on statistical and professional evidence. Never was I interested into the hype of the day, but I am interested in changing landscapes and what that does to us as humans – and how things might be made a little better, informative, balanced and innovative. By being bold I am also knowingly and actively fighting a cultural tendency to push down or change everything that is different from the norm, something I have encountered often in every area of life.
